Space Dandy's Pencil Drawings Previewed in Video

Bandai began streaming a preview on Tuesday for the rough draft footage that will be bundled with for the Space Dandy anime's first Blu-ray volume, which is scheduled to be released on April 25. Animator Yutaka Nakamura provided the storyboards for the clips being streamed.
The first Blu-ray volume of Space Dandy will sell for 6,000 yen (about US$60), and will come with original box art from character designer Yoshiyuki Ito, a special booklet, a code to apply early to either the Space Dandy music event or cast talk event (fans under 20 years old cannot attend the music event), and audio commentary for episode one featuring Junichi Suwabe, Uki Satake, and Hiroyuki Yoshino. The Blu-ray will also contain the special program aired right before the premiere of the anime, three promotional videos, four commercials, a music video for “Viva Namida,” and the digital gallery featuring rough draft footage and cut material. The DVD release will retail for 4,800 yen (about US$47), and will contain everything from the Blu-ray release except for the special program, digital gallery, and audio commentary. Both releases will also include both English and Japanese subtitles and audio tracks.
The story of the anime revolves around Dandy (Junichi Suwabe/Ian Sinclair), an alien-hunter. His job is to seek out new aliens never seen before, and receives a reward whenever he finds a new species. His mission is to find those new species faster than anyone else as he travels the galaxy. Together with the bucket-of-bolts robot QT (Uki Satake (9nine)/Alison Viktorin) and the dimwit alien Meow (Hiroyuki Yoshino/Joel McDonald) he picked up along the way, he comes into contact with new planets and their inhabitants.
Funimation is streaming the series online with Japanese audio, and the company also has home video rights for the series. The anime is broadcasting on Adult Swim's Toonami block in the United States with an English dub.
