Girls & Panzer Manga for Beginners Promotes Anime's Rerun

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
TV series, with new end card art, began rerun on select Japanese TV channels on Tuesday

The official website for the Girls und Panzer anime posted a six-page manga titled Shoshinsha no Tame no Girls und Panzer (Girls und Panzer For Beginners) last Friday. The manga introduces readers to the world, concepts, and main characters of the anime. The manga is intended to promote the television rerun of the original anime series on select channels in Japan.

The manga is the 99th chapter of the web version of Nii-Marco's Girls und Panzer: Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu! manga. The manga first launched in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in May 2013. Kadokawa published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on May 23.

The details of the rerun of the Girls und Panzer TV anime series are as follows:

The rerun will also contain new end card art by the production staff and from famous military illustrators. This rerun will mark the over-the-air television premiere of the series in Ōarai, Ibaraki Prefecture, the real-life city where the anime's setting is based on.

The Girls und Panzer theatrical film will open in Japan on November 21. Bandai Visual began streaming trailer for the film last month. Asami Seto will play the Chihatan Academy's unit commander Kinuyo Nishi in the film. ChouCho will perform the theme song. The new film in the Girls und Panzer franchise with an all-original story was announced in 2013, although it was initially planned for release last year. The television anime series' Tsutomu Mizushima is returning to direct the film, and the main cast is also returning.

The first set of 13 different advance tickets and 13 different MovieTicket cards went on sale last month, and each came with one of 13 different bonus illustrated clear file folder. The second set of tickets will have an exclusive illustration, and third set will come with art by character designer Isao Sugimoto and a text story by head scriptwriter Reiko Yoshida.

The cast members will hold a public recording of their Usagi-san Team, Chū! radio program at the Ōarai Umibiraki (Beach Opening Ceremony) event on Saturday. The event will offer a "Umibiraki set" for sale:

The radio program began running on the Ibaraki Radio station on July 4 at 9:30 p.m.

The Tokyo Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will hold a Girls & Panzer Orchestra Concert at the Yokosuka Arts Theatre on November 3.

The anime franchise began with a television series that premiered in 2012. The story centers around high school girls who drive World War II-era tanks, as they compete in teams. Crunchyroll and Anime Network both streamed the anime outside Japan. An all-new original video anime (OVA) titled "Kore ga Hontō no Anzio-sen Desu!" (This is the Real Anzio Battle!) premiered in Japanese theaters in July last year, and the anime shipped on DVD and Blu-ray later that month.
