Tsuburaya Productions began streaming the first trailer on Saturday for its Kaijū Girls ~Ultra Kaijū Gijinka Keikaku~ (tentative title) anime short series.
Studio Puyukai (Overlord's Pure Pure Purea Desu shorts, Kōkaku Kidōtai Nyumon Arise) will produce the anime based on the original concept of Tsuburaya Productions' Ultra Kaijū Gijinka Keikaku (Ultra Kaijū Anthropomorphication Project). Norimitsu Kaihō (School-Live!, Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation series composition) provided original concept and is in charge of setting.
The shorts are slated to premiere on the d Anime Store (Docomo Anime Store) service this fall.
The project's official website has also revealed that manga, novel, and other projects are in development.
The Ultra Kaijū Gijinka Keikaku project transforms kaijū (monsters) from the Ultraman live-action special-effects series into cute, female anthropomorphized monsters. The project already inspired the Ultra Kaijū Gijinka Keikaku Galaxy Days four-panel manga. Kadokawa released the first compiled book volume last July.
The project released an anthropomorphized Eleking figure in 2013 and a "Gomora-chan" figure in 2014.
Ultraman also inspired the Kaijū Sakaba Kanpai! (Monster Bar Cheers!) anime shorts last year that focused on the franchise's monsters. A real-life bar in Kawasaki City inspired the 13-episode series.
