Anime News Network's New York Comic-Con 2016 news coverage sponsored by Yen Press.

FUNimation Entertainment announced at its panel at Otakon on Friday that it will release Sunrise's Psychic School Wars (Nerawareta Gakuen) anime film. The company will release the film on a Blu-ray Disc and DVD combo pack on November 1, and the release will include an English dub.

The film's dub cast is as follows:

The Scotland Loves Animation event hosted the world premiere of the anime in October 2012, and it describes the story:

Spring marks the start of another new school year at a junior high school in Kamakura. A new transfer student, Ryoichi Kyogoku (Daisuke Ono) joins the 8th grade. Kyogoku has a very special proficiency in telepathy and has been ordered by his father to use this ability to scan other people's minds and take over the school. He instantly gains popularity at school from his good looks and charisma and he sets about taking control of the school. As people begin to fall under Kyogoku's spell, he covertly manipulates his followers and pushes aside anyone who gets in his way.

With the school almost completely under the control of Kyogoku, only one boy seems unaffected – Seki. Does Seki have what it takes to save everyone from the clutches of mind control?

The film adapts Taku Mayumura's science-fiction children's novel, and it originally opened in Japan in November 2012. Sunrise's Studio 8 (My-HiME, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Accel World) produced the adaptation with director Ryosuke Nakamura (Mōryō no Hako, Aoi Bungaku Series). The Japanese cast stars: Yūtarō Honjō as Kenji Seki, Mayu Watanabe as Natsuki Suzuura, Kana Hanazawa as Kahori Harukawa, and Daisuke Ono as Ryoichi Kyogoku.
