The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Anime Casts Kouichi Yamadera, Rie Tanaka

This year's 43rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced new cast members on Monday for The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., the television anime adaptation of Shūichi Asō's Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan manga.
Kouichi Yamadera (Lupin the Third's Zenigata, Dragon Ball Super's Beerus) will play Kumagorō Saiki, while Rie Tanaka (Mobile Suit Gundam Seed's Lacus Clyne, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Merribit Stapleton) will play Kumi Saiki. Both characters are the grandparents of main character Kusuo Saiki.
The anime premiered as a "double broadcast," airing in the mornings Mondays-Fridays within the Oha-Suta ("Good Morning Star") program on TV Tokyo, and at night on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Osaka. The morning broadcast airs five episodes each week, and the late-night broadcast collects those five episodes and airs them together. The anime's morning broadcast premiered on July 4, and the late-night broadcast premiered on July 10.
Funimation is streaming the series with English subtitles as it airs in Japan, and is also streaming an English broadcast dub for the series.
The manga centers on a high school boy named Kusuo Saiki. He possesses supernatural powers that cause unfortunate events in his everyday life.
Hiroaki Sakurai (Di Gi Charat, Maid Sama!) is directing the anime at EGG FIRM and J.C. Staff, and Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Kyōkai no Rinne) is in charge of series composition. Masayuki Onji (Kimi to Boku., Aoi Hana) is in charge of character design. The new special musical unit Saikic Lover is performing background music for the anime. The group consists of vocalist Yoffy, guitarist IMAJO, and arranger Kenichirō Ōishi.
Dempagumi.inc will perform the new opening theme song starting in October. The group is performing the anime's current ending theme song "Psi desu I LIKE YOU." Natsuki Hanae will perform the new ending theme song titled "Kokoro" (Heart), also starting in October. Hanae is also performing the show's current opening theme song "Seishun wa Zankoku janai."
