Kobo-chan's Masashi Ueda Ends Otoboke Kachō Manga After 36 Years

This year's June issue of Hōbunsha's Manga Time magazine published the final chapter of Masashi Ueda's Otoboke Kachō manga on Saturday. The four-panel manga has been running in Manga Time since 1981.
The same issue also announced that Ueda will launch a sequel in the July issue on June 7. The sequel takes place seven years later, when the protagonist's daughter is in high school and his son is in middle school.
The manga follows a section manager of a trading company and his coworkers and family. The 28th compiled volume shipped last June and 29th and final compiled volume will ship on June 7.
Ueda's Furiten-kun manga inspired a film and OVA while his Kariage-kun and Kobo-chan manga both inspired television anime. Kobo-chan has been running in Yomiuri Shimbun since 1982, and he is also currently serializing Shin Furiten-kun (New Furiten-kun) in Takeshobo's Manga Life. Kodansha published some Kobo-chan manga volumes in bilingual editions under the title Kobo, the Li'l Rascal.
