'Run Girls, Run!' Performs New Opening Theme Song for Kiratto Pri☆Chan Anime

posted on by Karen Ressler
New opening to debut in October

Voice actress unit "Run Girls, Run!" announced at its one-year anniversary party event on Sunday that it will perform a new opening theme song for the third cours (quarter of a year) of the Kiratto Pri☆Chan anime. The song is titled "Go! Up! Stardom!" The third cours will premiere in October and the CD for the new song will ship on October 31.

The unit consists of Koko Hayashi, Nanami Atsugi, and Yūka Morishima. The group performed the anime's first opening theme song "Kiratto Start," and Hayashi and Atsugi play major characters in the show.

The anime premiered in Japan on April 8 as the latest anime series in the Pretty Series idol franchise.

The anime has video uploading and streaming sites as a central focus, and once again has themes of singing, dancing, fashion, and friendship. The series centers on two first-year middle school girls named Mirai Momoyama and Emo Moegi, two aspiring idols who decide to use the "Pri☆Chan System," a system used by famous people and companies to broadcast content. Like many girls starting their own channels and uploading content, the pair decide to become their own producers, starting their own channel in an attempt to become Pri☆Chan idols.

While the anime is not directly a sequel to the PriPara franchise, it is the second part of syn Sophia's "Pretty Series New Project," which involves both the Pretty Rhythm anime and the loose followup PriPara. The previously announced "Pretty All Friends Project" commemorates the overall Pretty Series franchise's 10-year anniversary, which will take place in 2020.
