Chennai Fans Experienced the Best Weekend of the Year as First Edition of Chennai Comic Con 2024 Concludes

Chennai, India, February 19th 2024: Maruti Suzuki Arena Chennai Comic Con, powered by Crunchyroll, took place on February 17th and 18th 2024. Bringing together the community of comic books, manga, anime, superhero films, and all things fun, the first-ever edition of the pop culture celebration proved to be a grand success as fans flocked in large numbers at Chennai Trade Centre.

Attendees channelized their inner fandom to cosplay and put up their geekdom on display while others interacted and participated in tournaments, games, among other exciting activities. The 2024 Con in the vibrant city witnessed the ever-expanding fandom and love for anime characters such as Yuji Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen, Akatsuki from Naruto, Lufi and more, while a few brought back the classics such as Batman, Loki, Joker, and several Spiderman variations among others! Close to 3,000 visitors were in various levels of cosplay in the convention with an incredible 32,000+ footfall across the two days. The performance line-up included popular artists like Duality, Pal Dabba, Kyarakuta Dansu crew, who rocked the stage with their energetic performances across the two days. While our childhood icon who made us fall in love with all things art, Art Guy ROB took the stage on fire with his mind-blowing DIY art that made the audience go gaga. Finally, our beloved comedians Rohan Joshi, Sahil Shah and Chennai's very own Abhishek Kumar left everyone in splits.

Speaking about Chennai Comic Con, Abhishek Kumar said, “The audience at Chennai Comic Con was incredible. The best part is it had an audience of all age groups, lots of energy, lots of fun. The one thing that's so special about this Comic Con is its debutant Energy and the Chennai audience has not been exposed to cosplay and dressing up so much before. So, it's nice to see my city lit up so colorful.”

Art Guy ROB added, It didn't feel like this was the first time Comic Con was happening in Chennai, because without a doubt I can say everyone loved it. It was an amazing session where we created a little bit of art and interacted with the audience. I had a blast and I believe it was a huge success.

The event showcase comics in a big way with a slew of upcoming publishing houses/Indian artists like Indusverse, Holy Cow Entertainment, Acid Toad, Happy Fluff Comics, Sufi Comics, Garbage Bin, Corporate comics, Bullseye Press, Bakarmaxx, Chariot Comics, Yalli Dream Creations, Art of SAVIO, and Abhijeet Kini and many more along with International artists like Archi Comics' Dan Parent and Image Comics' John Layman who graced the event. Numerous manga retail experiences featuring Naruto, Death Note, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece and other popular series were on display as well as Indian comics like Amar Chitra Katha, Endwars, Lion Muthu Comics, Alpha Comics and Worthing Comics were also some key attractions for thousands of pop culture enthusiasts. The experiential zones included Crunchyroll's game zone, Kung Fu Panda 4 Experience, MTV Hustle's rap booth, Fuji Film's Instax booth and Hyderabad's Biggest Comic Book Store by Penguin Random House India, gathered fans in huge numbers as well as a Virtual Reality experience zone for Maruti Suzuki's Arena that indulged them in a simulated driving in the future was a hotspot for fans. The event also urged pop culture geeks to go on a shopping spree with brands like Bonkers Corner, Red Wolf, Offostore, kiaya Accessories , Fat Cat Collectibles, and tons more.

From 17th to 18th February the event featured The Arena a gaming zone, featuring racing simulators, virtual reality games, playstation consoles which had daily tournaments, Esports and popular streamers and gaming experiences among many other exciting activities for all attendees.

The Maruti Suzuki Arena Chennai Comic Con, powered by Crunchyroll, took place on 17th and 18th February 2024 at Chennai Trade Center. Mumbai Comic Con will take place on 20th and 21st April 2024.
