Numensule's Anime

Seen all Comment
Ah! My Goddess (TV) This got me into the whole romantic comedy side of anime. I adore Belldandy. Male character is a bit of a wimp, but the goddesses make up for it.
Ai Yori Aoshi (TV) Great Great Great Romantic comedy. Aoi-chan is the perfect woman. A real classic beauty. The story progresses with some decency which makes it nice. The humor is good as well.
Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ (TV) Not nearly as good as the first season. I really thought they could have done without it. It makes the first season look as though it never even happened.
Akira (movie) Okay. Good considering when it was made. Nice old school anime.
Berserk (TV 1997) On the top ten. The story is what really makes this anime amazing. Ever episode contributes to the story. The ending is what really ruins this anime for a lot of people. I still read the manga.
Chobits (TV) Very funny. I know quite a few people don't like it, but I think its very humerous and entertaining. CLAMP has a very diverse collection of work. This is one that I like
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Okay. I like Spike a lot and there's plenty of action, but there's really just no consistent story developement for my taste. Still worth watching though.
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie Excellent movie. Great animation. My vote for "Best hand to hand fighting sequence" in any anime movie I've seen.
Elfen Lied (TV) The concept was cool. But the nudity and completely over the top violence / gore were a real turn off to me.
Escaflowne: The Movie The movie on the whole is just okay, but what I really like here is the soundtrack. The music in this anime is angelic. I particuarly like Sora's song.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie) Not really an anime. More like an extremely well done CGI movie. Washes out the bad taste I got from watching "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within."
Fruits Basket (TV 1/2001) I find most Shojo a little too girly for my taste, but if I'm going to watch one then this is it. I love the lead female's personality and temperament. The male characters also kept me intrigued with their antics.
Genshiken (TV) Different. I liked it for the animation and the concept it portrayed. An anime about people who watch anime. Weird. Ends a little abruptly. Guess funding got cut.
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Same as my opinion of Akira basically. Okay for its time.
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Most people think this movie is extremely sad, and that its anti-american. While, yes, its overall tone was definetely somber at best, I couldn't help but feel disdain for the lead. I mean there were so many things he could have done to help him and his sister's condition that its not even funny. I pity them more than anything.
Gungrave (TV) Best anime of all time for me! I wasn't prepared for how much this anime would blow me away. Its story is astounding. It got a deep dialoge and amazing character developement. You are so unprepared for the things that happen.
.hack//SIGN (TV) Interesting concept. I like the whole MMORPG thing. A little slow at times but not too bad.
He Is My Master (TV) Eh.....not really my thing. To Ecchi for me. No real story. No real character development. Not worth the time.
Heat Guy J (TV) Good show. I think J should make a set of "How to be a Real Man" tapes and sell them as he travels around the country conducting seminars.
Hellsing (TV) A lot of people get pissed off when you mention Hellsing because of its abrupt ending. I still like it though and I'm enjoying the OVA as its being released.
Jyu-Oh-Sei (TV) Watched this one recently. Thought it would be too short since its only 11 episodes long. But they did a really nice job of squeezing everything in. I didn't feel disatisfied in the least. Very good story.
Kite (OAV) Just okay. Little too violent.
Love Hina (TV) I didn't really like the male lead. Too much of a wimp. And I don't particuarly like women who have more testosterone than a manzilla. Also too many nose bleeds, etc.
Love Hina Again (OAV) Kind of feel the same way about this one too.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) A very controversial series. Many people praise this as the best thing to ever happen to anime. I myself do not like it. On its good points, the animation is top of the line. Really good stuff. But on the downside, the anime episodes are not in chronological order (WTF?). The story is confusing enough and they just go out of their way to make your head spin. At the end of it all, the series has no ending at all really. Just makes you want to sit in a corner and suck your thumb as you cry. You'll have to watch it and judge for yourself.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (TV) Never a big fan of Mobile Suit anime. A friend worked hard to change my mind and get me to buy this one. Glad I did, because its really good. I love an anime with an excepitonal story. Can't wait to view the second season.
Monster (TV) Different concept. A physicological thriller type anime. Never really watched an anime like this before. Really good in keeping me hooked. Every episode ended with something leaving you hanging. A little long, but still good.
My-HiME (TV) Like Mai-Otome, a stellar series. Creates a real somber tone as the series progresses but wraps it up real nice in the end.
My-Otome (TV) Stellar series. Made it into the top ten. They managed to recycle My-Hime characters and still create something new and exciting. I could see them making a second season and me enjoying it.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) This is the series that got me started seriously watching anime. In retrospect there are a lot of series out there that are better than this one, but it will always have a special place in my heart non the less. Ending is just weird.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie) No one likes the ending to Evangelion.
Ninja Scroll (movie) Amazing fighting even though its old. Classic movie like Akira and Ghost in the Shell. A little graphic for my tastes at times. Still good though. I don't have "Resurection" listed here, but I have seen it and its absolutely horendous. God awful.
Outlaw Star (TV) Older anime, but intriguing overall. Certainly not the best. Certainly not the worst.
Princess Mononoke (movie) Great movie. They really did a great job animating this. The story is original and epic. I enjoy the english dubbing on this coincidentally. Benchmark for what an animated movie should be.
RahXephon (TV) Hmm, kind of like Evangelion but different. I like the characters and the fighting, but even now the story seems a little confusing. They don't explain things the way they should. Kind of like I should go read the manga if I want to understand. I'm too lazy though...
Record of Lodoss War (OAV) A disapointment for me. I had high expectations. The animation is definetely old by todays standards; however, I'm willing to forget animation in favor of a good story. This has neither. Not for me anyways.
Rurouni Kenshin (TV 1996) Great Series. Trust and Betrayal are hard movies to follow, but this one comes close. The Kyoto Arc is just so incredible. Almost any fight in it could be in the anime hall of fame. The disapointment however comes toward the end of the series when the story line becomes extremely sub par.
Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection (OAV) After a sub par ending of the Kenshin series, it was nice to see another great film emerge to give some closure on everything. The fight with Enishi on the beach tells me they could have done a lot more with the series if they had been patient. I'm always a little sad when I watch this because I get the feeling that Kenshin has wasted his life. Oh well, guess I'm just waxing philosophical
Rurouni Kenshin: The Motion Picture Don't waste your time. Pure garbage.
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (OAV) Ah, the crowning achievement in animated movies. Technically, I suppose its an OAV miniseries, but in my mind I've always considered it a movie. The dialogue is so in depth that it makes one consider a great many personal moral beliefs. The animation is marvelous to behold. The story comes to an almost enevitable conclusion that is quite somber, but also realistic. Instead of closure, it forces you to empathize with the main character who must now live out his life with the stigma of his past choices.
S-CRY-ed (TV) Engaging and entertaining. Kazuma's never say die attitude is really addicting to watch. And super powers are just so cool! Neat concept. They bring the story around nicely as well.
Samurai Champloo (TV) One of the better samurai series to come out in recent years. The blend of hip hop themes and exceptional fighting sequences definetely make this anime unique. The fighting is incredible particuarly towards the end. I really liked it.
Samurai Deeper Kyo (TV) Okay, so the story here is a little... WTF?! But Kyo's attitude is what makes this series for me. He's good and cocky and totally awesome. He certainly knows what he wants out of life. Who cares if you don't know what exactly is going on half the time, Kyo is fun to watch.
School Rumble (TV) Maybe the best romantic comedy of all time. Light hearted feel to it. The initial love triangle soon turns into a love gartezuhegon (or something). Nothing really serious goes on and its all very funny. One of my favorit series.
School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) Second season is just as good as the first. Tenma-chan is so cute, it brings a tear to my eye.
Sin: The Movie Nothing really good happening here.
Street Fighter II V (TV) Didn't do anything for me really. Kind of had to force myself to watch it. Animation is old, and the story is boring. You'd expect good fighting from the greatest 2D fighting game of all time. You'd be wrong.
Trigun (TV) Vash is the man. When I first saw this many years ago, I just didn't get the humor. Now, having watched enough anime to know better, I roll on the floor when I watch this. I always thought Vash was a bit of a cry baby with some of his personal "no killing" issues, but whatever. He's still cool and the story is still awesome. I think the manga would be better though because they seem to leave a lot out.
Vampire Hunter D (OAV) Very good vampire movie. Animation is a little old, but its interesting enough that it doesn't really matter. You kind of have to fill in some of the story element gaps as you go along, but it shouldn't be much of a problem for a good imagination.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (movie) This movie certainly tops the first one. Animation here is superb. Story isn't half bad either. Very enjoyable. Lots of good stuff going on here.
(The) Vision of Escaflowne (TV) Its another so-so anime. It was hard for me to get into this. Maybe its just too old for me. I'm just not sure.
Witch Hunter Robin (TV) Interesting paranormal concepts. Using witches to hunt witches and so on. A little slow at first, but I thought it progressed okay towards the end. Left you looking for some explanations, but still worth the watch.
Wrath of the Ninja - The Yotoden Movie Just didn't feel this one dog. Too old. Nothing to really set the sparks flying.
X (TV) How does CLAMP, who does something like Chobits and Tsubasa Chronicles do something like this? I'm just not sure. However, I happen to like X quite a bit. It may be slow for a lot of people, but it really tries to build itself to Epic proportions. I've not seen the movie, but I would like to though.
xxxHOLiC (TV) Good series. Interesting animation and concept. You never know what Clamp is gonna come up with.
Zone of the Enders: Idolo (OAV) Okay, I guess. Didn't see the series. That probably would have helped.
