Well, I don't think that reassembling the original voice cast for the new anime was ridiculous reason. Well, producers can think that it can cost a real chunk of money, because some actors from the original cast become top-class, but it still the right reasoning from him.

Well that sucks. Probably one of the series that I always see people asking for a reboot. Remember watching the original and enjoying it. after reading and see the extra content after the anime I would love to see this get a complete run.

No offense to the VA's but out of the first and secondary character cast, how many of the VAs would be that expensive to get now? Do most of them even do voice work on a regular basis or are getting main character roles at this point?

I respect this stance, honestly. He has a vision of how the characters should sound, what the music should be like (though the music should be somewhat negotiable). If he's got the money to just say, "Nah, I'll pass, I don't need the extra cash", then more power to him. It's his creation. But full disclosure, I'm not nor have I ever been into Shaman King, so this is just my outsider's perspective.

Well, the original series had nowaday AAA-class actors like Megumi Hayashibara (Anna), Nana Mizuki (Tamao), Hikaru Midorikawa (Hao/Silva), Romi Park (Ren), Takehito Koyasu (Faust) or Yui Horie (Jeanne) - so yeah, now it can really cost a thing. Pretty much most of the cast is still really active, except Yoh and Manta seiyuu.

Pretty depressing

Not only did he fudge it up for everyone (and clearly regrets it) but its possible a new anime could've made Flowers popular enough to survive the mag dying and been moved elsewhere. What a disaster to come from blatant stupidity

What a dumb choice, he should've taken notes after seeing the success of the HxH reboot, it had new va's as well. Lost any respect I had for him. He still hopes for another opportunity, lmao, he can wait because he won't be getting another one. Hopefully we get a Kenshin remake instead.

I understand his stance, but don't agree with it. I'd rather have a new adaptation. Sure, I'd miss some of the voice actors, like Katsuyuki Konishi as Amidamaru or Megumi Hayashibara as Anna, but I could get over it. Not mention that I still think that giving Hao a female voice was wrong.

Success of HxH reboot? Mind explaining what kind of success you're talking about? Because it neither boosted the manga sales that much nor did it sell any BDs. Heck even the ratings were unimpressive compared to the original series and it was moved to late night timeslot. I forgot the source ( I'll try to find it) but even Shuiesha bailed out of the production committee in the middle of the series and Madhouse owners Nippon TV had to fund the project.

I knew this would pop up, not getting into this discussion with you again, all I will say is that if the HxH reboot weren't a success, it wouldn't have lasted for as long as it did.

Yeah, I was more surprised someone had made a serious attempt at another Shaman King anime. I would've been so all over that.

Even Takei himself love the original cast. Maybe he didn't want they recasts with overpopular seiyuu like Hanae, Ai Kayano or Hosoya which he felt didn't suitable with his characters.

A few seiyuu for secondary characters have also passed away.
