Should I say I'm surprised? I kind of am, but not at the same time. I mean, IDW are already releasing an Angry Birds comic book series. And, isn't there a cartoon?

I have literally never seen anything Angry Birds over here. I think popular is an overstatement...

Then it's kind of odd to see a manga of the franchise appearing if it isn't popular in Japan. Some kids must like it enough that a manga adaptation is made.

Or that the company WANTS it to be popular. The same thing happened with My Little Pony when it was just announced. (MLP is not popular with the kids or adults either here)

Sounds like another flop in the making then, but who knows, it may not end up like MLP since it's an original work based off the franchise.

The game is mildly popular but the merchandise sells. There are angry birds plushies in crane games and I've seen kids wearing the t-shirts.

Nakayoshi might be the right move considering its young audience here.

On the other hand hay day is freakin everywhere now here.

It's actually somewhat common. A lot of western properties get manga in Japan, usually at the commission of the American company in an attempt to market the property in Japan. More often than not they always die off in less than a year, though. Magic the Gathering, W.I.T.C.H., My Little Pony, Barbie, Mass Effect, now Angry Birds.

Here in the states most fans of Angry Birds, like most smartphone app games in general, tend to be women. Makes sense to make it a shoujo manga. Easily marketed plushies certainly don't hurt either.

It's an English-teaching tool. Any phone game can get an adaptation these days. Can't raise awareness of something unless ya try.

Well the art style of the comic is cute at the very least. Still I find it funny that the Angry Birds people want to market a girl-centric off shoot to their "boys" game.
