Asuna Wake-Up App Now Available Internationally

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

English-speaking fans of Sword Art Online will now be able to start off their day with the voice of Haruka Tomatsu, who plays Asuna. Sony Music Communications Inc. is releasing the smartphone app Wake Me Up Asuna, which consists of a selection of voice samples from the swordswoman.

The English version of the app includes translated menus, subtitles, and English-voice compatibility so the app now responds to English commands. The Japanese version was originally released in June.

The app will tell you the local weather, your fortune for the day, and any important reminders. Sleepy? Asuna will even tell you a "boring" bedtime story to send you off to dreamland. Asuna as multiple costumes, including Knights of the Blood uniform and a yellow sweater with more to be released in the future.

The app itself is free but users have to pay for the English voice recognition and subtitles.

Anime fans who prefer Is the order a rabbit? can choose to wake up to Chino and a similar app exists for Karen of Kinmoza!. They could also opt to wake up to a real schoolgirl (potentially).
