Planetarian Net Anime Inspires Real Planetarium Project

The planetarian net anime is inspiring a special planetarium feature at Koriyama City Fureai Science Center in Fukushima Prefecture from March 4 to April 5. A special presentation at the science center's planetarium will talk about the world of the anime during the collaboration. The anime character Yumemi Hoshino will provide an original presentation against the backdrop of the planetarium's starry dome.
The planetarium's general adult admission costs 400 yen (about US$4). The entire science center will be closed on March 6, March 13, and March 21.
The five-episode planetarian net anime premiered on July 7, followed by the planetarian: Hoshi no Hito film on September 3. The anime are based on Visual Art's/Key (Clannad, Rewrite, Angel Beats!) original planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~ "kinetic novel." Visual Art's/Key released the game in Japan on personal computers in 2004 before porting it to the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable consoles. The story takes place 30 years after a world war put a halt to space development. The protagonist, simply known as "the Junk Hunter," attempts to restore a planetarium's projector after meeting a robot.
The Macross franchise's 35th anniversary celebration will include a planetarium project this year. Texas-based a cappella group Pentatonix and voice actor Daisuke Ono collaborated for a planetarium show last year. Chibi Maruko-chan, Evangelion, Pokémon XY, One Piece, and Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms have also inspired their own planetarium shows.
