3 original albums available now, anime soundtracks "in the near future"

Tokyopop has partnered with Digital Rights Agency to launch a new label, Tokyopop Music.

Three albums are already available through iTunes and other digital retailers: Drift 2 Die from the US Initial D soundtrack; Beats 4 Riderz from Street Fury, Initial D, and "various other properties"; and Anime Trax Volume one with American music tracks by D. J. Milky and b_nCHANt_d.

Tokyopop plans to release "more than 20 albums per year featuring the coolest music from Asia" according to music supervisor Ben Chan.

"In the near future, TOKYOPOP will be producing anime and manga soundtracks, mangapods (audio books), ringtones, manga podcasts, and much more. We are currently considering building a satellite radio manga channel," Tokyopop CEO Stu Levy said in a press release.

Tokyopop previously released a number of soundtracks in 2002: Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040, GTO, Hi-Posi, Samurai Girl Real Bout High School, Trigun, and Vampire Princess Miyu.
