posted on by Egan Loo
"Target HAL Micro Adventure," a film short by executive director Shōji Kawamori (Macross, Escaflowne, Aquarion) about the Robot Suit HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb) exoskeletons, will be screened at the opening of the Cyberdyne Studio in the iias Tsukuba shopping center. The film will highlight the technology in Cyberdyne's HAL powered suits that made international headlines two years ago.
Although he is most famous for designing fictional robots in Macross, Transformers, and other franchises, Kawamori has delved into real-world robotics in the past. He designed the exterior features of Sony's ERS-220 Aibo robotic dog variant and created the Dualis powered suit concept for the promotional campaign of Nissan's compact SUV of the same name. He is participating in a November 29 discussion event called "Science Fiction Anime Made Real!? A Heated Discussion on Robots: Dreams and Passion Will Create the Future of Robots" in Tokyo. He is also linked to the upcoming Basquash! project with his animation studio Satelight.
