Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyō Anime's 2nd Promo Streamed

posted on by Joanne Mertz
Absurd mystery comedy based on Shunsuke Sarai's novels stars Takahiro Sakurai, Marina Inoue

The official website for Gonzo's Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyō television anime updated with the series' second promotional video on Friday.

The promo introduces the story, saying, "This is the story of a book. Or maybe it's the story of to write or die, to Read or Die." The absurd mystery comedy centers around Kazuhito Harumi, a high school boy who is obsessed with reading books. One day, he is killed in the middle of a robbery — and resurrected as a dachshund dog. Unable to read in his new form, the hapless Kazuhito now belongs to Kirihime Natsuno, a sadistic novelist who uses scissors on Kazuhito to abuse him.

Takahiro Sakurai (Berserk film's Griffith, Code Geass' Suzaku, NAKAIMO's Shōgo Mikadono) and Marina Inoue (Highschool of the Dead's Rei Miyamoto, Haganai's Yozora Mikazuki) lead the cast as Kazuhito Harumi and Kirihime Natsuno, respectively. The lead cast are reprising their roles from last year's drama CD.

Shunsuke Sarai launched the novel series with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima in 2011, and Enterbrain's Famitsu Bunko imprint published the sixth volume on January 30. Along with a short story volume, the novel series will have 300,000 copies in print.

The story earned an honor in the Entame Taishō awards' novel category. Kamon Ooba launched a manga adaptation in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine last May.
