Japanese Box Office, November 2-3

Toei's Eiga Dokidoki! Precure Mana Kekkon!!? Mirai ni Tsunagu Kibō no Dress (Dokidoki! Precure the Movie: Mana's Getting Married!!? The Dress of Hope Linked to the Future) film stayed at #2 (in terms of number of tickets sold) in its second weekend. The story begins when the main lead, Mana Aida, inherits the same wedding dress that her mother and her grandmother wore. However, a mysterious cloaked figure named Mashū appears aboard an airship while playing a clarinet, and people start losing their memories or worse. Mana is transported to the past, and while she gets to see her beloved grandmother and dog Maro, the future is in jeopardy. The film ranked at #3 (in terms of box office earnings) on Box Office Mojo's chart and earned 149,420,380 (US$1,507,053) on 199 screens for a new total of 445,318,421 yen (US$4,491,481).

Gekijō-ban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica [Shinpen]: Hangyaku no Monogatari (Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion-), the third film in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise, fell from #1 to #3 (in the number of tickets sold) during its second weekend. Akiyuki Shinbo and Yukihiro Miyamoto directed the film at SHAFT with original character designs from manga creator Ume Aoki (Hidamari Sketch). Yuki Kajiura provided the music. The main cast returned from the television series and previous two films. Kana Asumi joined the cast as the new magical girl Nagisa Momoe. The film ranked at #2 (in box office earnings) on Box Office Mojo's chart and earned 186,806,784 yen (US$1,884,133) on 129 screens for a new total of 860,716,498 yen (US$8,681,186).

TOHO's live-action film adaptation of Ryo Ikuemi's shōjo manga Kiyoku Yawaku fell from # 7 to #9 in its second weekend. The film stars actress Masami Nagasawa (Crying Out Love, In the Center of the World, Gaku, Moteki, From Up On Poppy Hill) and actor Masaki Okada (Otomen, Space Brothers, Confessions). Nagasawa plays Kanna Seto, a woman still consumed by the loss of her childhood friend in an accident. Okada plays Roku Akazawa, a man dealing with his own guilt over an accident that resulted in the death of a female friend in elementary school. The film earned 59,766,535 yen (US$602,805) on 266 screens for a new total of 245,485,158 yen (US$2,475,963).

Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachinu) anime film fell from Box Office Mojo's chart during its 16th weekend. The Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai. (anohana) film also fell from Box Office Mojo's chart in its 10th weekend.
