Sailor Moon Crystal 1st Blu-ray's Digest Video Streamed, Bonus Items Showcased

posted on by Kyle Cardine
Deluxe edition will come with music box, charms, booklet

The official Sailor Moon YouTube channel began streaming a "digest" video of the first two episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal for the upcoming release of the first deluxe edition Blu-ray disc. The Blu-ray is slated to release on October 15 and will retail for 7,500 yen (about US$70).

The Blu-ray will include the first two episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal, clean versions of the opening and ending themes, audio commentary from voice actors Kotono Mitsuishi (Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon) and Kenji Nojima (Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask), director Munehisa Sakai, and supervisor Fumio Osano for the two episodes. Momoiro Clover Z, who performed both the opening and ending theme for the show, and Munehisa Sakai will have their own separate audio commentary, but only for the first episode.

The deluxe edition will come packaged in a music box (which plays the opening theme song "Moon Pride"), and also contain a 28-page booklet, opening and ending storyboards, two charms from Bandai, and an application ticket to receive a box with a drawer that will fit all planned volumes of the Sailor Moon Crystal anime on Blu-ray. Retailer-specific "jacket covers" will also be available at five different stores, each with a different Guardian.

Sailor Moon Crystal premiered on Niconico, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Neon Alley on July 5.
