ReDrop draws spinoff titled Fukukaichō wa Ganbaru in Young Magazine the 3rd

This year's eighth issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine the 3rd announced on Wednesday that manga creator ReDrop (Natsu Koi) will launch Fukukaichō Ganbaru (The Vice President is Doing Her Best), a spinoff manga of Akira Hiramoto's Prison School manga, in the next issue on August 6. The manga will have a color opening page.

North American publisher Yen Press publishes Hiramoto's main Prison School manga for North America, and it describes the series:

Hachimitsu Private Academy was a revered and elite all-girls' boarding school on the outskirts of Tokyo...once upon a time. But with the new school year comes a revision to school policy: Boys are to be admitted into the student body for the first time ever. But on his first day at Hachimitsu, Kiyoshi Fujino discovers that he's one of only five boys enrolled at the school. Their numbers overwhelmed by the thousand girls in the student body, is it heaven or hell that awaits these five (un)fortunates?!

Hiramoto launched the manga in Kodansha's Young Magazine in February 2011, and Kodansha published the manga's 21st volume on June 6. Yen Press published the manga's third English volume on March 22. The manga won the Best General Manga award alongside Yūji Moritaka and Keiji Adachi's Gurazeni manga at Kodansha's 37th Annual Manga Awards in 2013. As of December, the manga has more than 7.5 million copies in print.

The 12-episode television anime adaptation premiered in July 2015, and Funimation streamed the anime with English subtitles as it aired in Japan, and also streamed the series with an English broadcast dub. A live-action television series adaptation premiered in Japan on October 25.

The manga also received an original anime DVD (OAD) bundled with the manga's 19th Japanese volume on March 4.
