New OVA to bundle with manga's 29th compiled volume on May 2

The YouTube channel for Warner Bros. Anime began streaming on Thursday a promotional video for the new original anime DVD Shokugeki no Sōma San no Sara: Erina no Shin Seikatsu (Food Wars! The Third Plate: Erina's New Life), a side story of the Food Wars! The Third Plate television anime.

The DVD will bundle with the manga's 29th compiled book volume. The bundled version of the volume will only be available to people who pre-order, and the deadline to pre-order is March 5. The bundle will ship on May 2 for 3,240 yen (about US$30) including tax.

The OVA's all-new story will center on Erina Nakiri after she runs away from her father Azami Nakiri. Erina will encounter various firsts in her new life, such as doing laundry and taking a public bath.

The third season premiered on October 3, and will return for its second half in April with the new "Tōtsuki Ressha" (Tōtsuki Train) arc. Crunchyroll is exclusively streaming the anime.

Yoshitomo Yonetani returns to direct the anime at J.C. Staff. Shogo Yasukawa returns to oversee the series scripts, and Tomoyuki Shitaya returns as the character designer. Tatsuya Katou returns to compose the music. Luck Life (Bungo Stray Dogs, Cheer Boys!!) will perform the new opening theme song "Symbol" while Fo'xTails (Dimension W, Handa-kun) will perform the new ending theme song.

Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's manga previously inspired two television anime series. The first anime season aired for 24 episodes from April to September 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the first anime adaptation as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America. Sentai Filmworks also licensed Food Wars! The Second Plate, the second anime season. The 13-episode series aired in July-September 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.
