Tubi TV Adds Yukikaze, Mave Chan, AIKa R-16 Anime

posted on by Karen Ressler
Also: list of other new non-exclusive titles

Tubi TV has added the Yukikaze, Fighting Fairy Girl Rescue Me Mave Chan (Fighting Fantasy Girl Rescue Me: Mave-Chan), and AIKa R-16: Virgin Mission anime.

Tubi TV is streaming all five episodes of Yukikaze in Japanese with English subtitles, and it describes the story:

Over thirty years have passed since mankind's first contact with the mysterious alien force "JAM." As a member of the Special Air Force (SAF) stationed on Fairy Air Force Base, Rei Fukai's mission is to conduct reconnaissance as the pilot of his beloved Super Sylph, Yukikaze, and return to base, even if it means abandoning allies in distress. Jaded by these inhumane missions, Rei trusts only Yukikaze. One day, Yukikaze is attacked by an unidentified aircraft, but manages to shoot it down. But was it really JAM? Upon returning to flight missions after an administrative hearing, Rei is once more attacked by an unknown aircraft. The next thing he knows, he was awakened in a room within one of the Tactical Air Bases where Rei receives medical attention for his wounds. He only later learns that everything was part of a trap set by JAM. Rei narrowly escapes aboard the Yukikaze, but is attacked again and his cherished craft is destroyed.

The OVA, based on a novel by Chohei Kanbayashi, debuted in 2002. Bandai Entertainment released the series in North America, and Viz Media released the novel. The OVA spawned the Fighting Fairy Girl Rescue Me Mave Chan spinoff OVA in 2005.

Tubi TV is streaming Fighting Fairy Girl Mave Chan's single episode in Japanese with English subtitles. Tubi TV describes the story:

Rei Sugiyama never had much self-confidence but always found solace in watching anime. One day at an anime festival, he is transported to another dimension where the jet plans from the anime, Yukikaze, take on the form of beautiful girls fighting a never-ending battle against the JAM. Rei will have to choose between going back home and saving the girls from a fate that awaits all anime, being erased by Demon of Oblivion. In order to save himself and the girls, Rei must first learn to believe in himself.

Bandai Entertainment released the OVA in North America in 2007.

Tubi TV is streaming all three episodes of AIKa R-16: Virgin Mission, and it describes the story:

High school student AIKa Sumeragi with her sharp mind and athletic body has passed the C-class Salvager test and got herself a C-class license. Despite being a sixteen year old teenager now, she is still being treated as a child by Gozo. Having finally gotten a license, AIKa starts putting up posters offering her Salvager services. At that time, her classmate and president of the Treasure Hunting Club, Eri Shingai, posts a request. AIKa gladly undertakes Eri's request and boards Eri's private cruiser. Onboard, she learns about a mysterious girl called Karen who is the reason for the request. That very night, AIKa is assaulted by high school girls and Karen is almost captured. What secret does Karen hold?

The OVA premiered in 2007 as a prequel to the Agent Aika OVA. It was followed by the AIKa ZERO OVA in 2009.
