Salaryman Kintaro's Motomiya, Usogui's Sako Both Launch New Manga

This year's 27th issue of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine announced on Thursday that Hiroshi Motomiya (The Country Burns, Salaryman Kintaro) will launch a new series titled Good Job in the 29th issue on June 21. Hiroshi Takano (Kokou no Hito, Dr. DMAT - Gareki no Shita no Hippocrates) is writing the story. The magazine also announced that Usogui's Toshio Sako will launch a new manga titled Batuque in the 31st issue on July 5.

In addition, Sanosuke will launch Satsuki-chan in the 30th issue on June 28, and Esuko Sugawara will launch Ibara o Sakaseru Hōhō in the 32nd issue on July 12.

The magazine describes Motomiya and Takano's new series as an omnibus about various occupations. The tagline reads, "TAX collectors, delivery men, nurses... this goes out to all the working adults!"

Motomiya's popular Salaryman Kintaro manga (pictured right) has been running on and off in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine since 1994. He restarted the series as a web manga in April of 2005, and has launched several spinoff series in the Weekly Young Jump since 2009. NTT Solmare's ComicFriends Facebook-based service briefly offered the manga in English, though the service closed in 2012. The manga has inspired a live-action film directed by Takashi Miike, several live-action drama series, and a 2001 anime series that Arts Magic released in North America.

Motomiya debuted as a manga artist in 1965. Many of his other manga — such as Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daisho, Ore no Sora, and Otokogi — have inspired live-action and anime adaptations.

Motomiya is also serializing Kōun Ryūsui [Jofūku] in Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine.

The magazine describes Sako's new manga as a story about a girl's adolescence. The tagline reads, "In that moment my heart raced, as if it had been guided beforehand."

Sako began Usogui in 2006, and Shueisha published the manga's 48th volume on November 17. The series inspired an original video animation (OVA) bundled with the manga's 26th volume in 2012. A live-action film was announced last year but it has not yet debuted.

Sako created the new character "Shiden" who debuted as part of a collaboration in Wright Flyer Studios' Bukiyo Saraba smartphone game on September 4.
